The Effects of Cognitive Development and Age on Elementary Students' Science Achievement for Structured Inductive and Semi-Deductive Inquiry Strategies.
Yore, Larry D.
Journal of Research in Science Teaching, v21 n7 p745-53 Oct 1984
Explored Morine and Morine's ("Discovery: A Challenge to Teachers") assumptions regarding age and cognitive development of students (N=174) successfully utilizing structured inductive and semi-deductive inquiry strategies. One finding noted is that age has made a significant difference on achievement for both strategies. Implications for science instruction are included. (JN)
