Students Classified as LD and the College Foreign Language Requirement: Replication and Comparison Studies.
Sparks, Richard L.; Javorsky, James
Journal of Learning Disabilities, v32 n4 p329-49 Jul-Aug 1999
Two studies examined students with learning disabilities who were allowed to substitute other courses for the college foreign-language (FL) requirement. Both studies found similar demographic, cognitive, academic achievement, and FL-aptitude profiles for the students. Article concludes that educators should not assume that students with LD require course substitutions for FL requirements or experience problems with FL learning. (Author/DB)
