Followup of psychoeducational recommendations made for 67 learning problem students (k-12) showed that 68 percent of the parental recommendations and 56 percent of the teacher recommendations were implemented. Nonverbal social perception in 54 learning disabled adolescents was investigated using standardized tests of social intelligence and nonverbal communication. LD adolescents (grades 8 and 9) were significantly lower in nonverbal social perception skill than controls. (Author/CL)

Multivariate analyses, followed by univariate tests, indicated that the normal children increased in sustained attention efficiency with age to both visual and auditory stimuli. Hyperactive children (9-14 years old) increased in sustained attention efficiency with age to auditory but not visual stimuli. (Author)

The article reviews research on the use of multiple oral rereading (MOR) with reading disabled students. MOR uses daily practice on a selection of little difficulty. Pre- and posttest scores showed that LD students regress in their reading skills when they experience extended breaks in their educational programs during the summer months. Also, a five-week summer reading program during either the first or last half of the summer can prevent this regression. (SW)

The results showed that while the children with bilateral OME did not differ in terms of background characteristics, they were significantly disadvantaged in speech articulation ability, verbal comprehension, motor development, and intelligence.
