Prior History of Learning Disabilities in Reye's Syndrome Survivors.
Quart, Ellen J.; And Others
Journal of Learning Disabilities, v18 n6 p345-49 Jun-Jul 1985
Twenty-six children (ages 9-18) who had recovered from Reye's syndrome (characterized by lethargy, disorientation, personality changes, and decreased consciousness) were tested for possible memory deficits. In reviewing school histories, an unexpected finding was the disproportionately high number of students who were learning disabled before contracting Reye's syndrome--10 times the expected incidence rate.
