The process of setting employment equity goals and timetables for female faculty in Canadian universities is investigated. Conditions under which a 50-50 male-female balance can be achieved by the year 2000, criteria for evaluating the reasonableness of this goal, and reasonable alternative goals are discussed. (MSE)
