Taking Teaching Seriously: Institutional and Individual Dilemmas.
Sacken, Donald M.
Journal of Higher Education, v61 n5 p548-64 Sep-Oct 1990
Problems generated by higher education institutional efforts to constrain faculty's instructional autonomy are evaluated. Given traditional administrative noninvolvement, such efforts can offend faculty expectations, leading to claims against the institution stemming from poor evaluations. Academic freedom values are examined as a heuristic for improving institutional review processes. (Author/MSE)
