Scholarship athletes may be eligible for workers' compensation benefits for injuries and disabilities incurred as a result of sports participation. The potential for eligibility exists regardless of the athletes' purportedly amateur, nonemployee status. This could have substantial financial impact on both intercollegiate athletic programs and sponsoring universities. (Author/MSE)
