Research Productivity and Teaching Effectiveness at a Small Liberal Arts College.

A study at a small college corroborates studies at larger institutions in finding only a slight relationship between research and teaching performance. The relationship varied substantially across ranks and disciplines. These results, it is suggested, question the policy of pressing faculty to do research on the assumption that it improves teaching.
