The NLS 72 and CIRP files were used to construct profiles of student financing for 1973-74 through 1979-80. Students finance smaller amounts than institutions list. Student self-support is declining while family and scholarship/grant support is rising. The middle-income squeeze and the importance of student aid to private institutions are evident. (Author/LB)
