The use of a faculty flow model is expanded to include simulation of the indirect effects on a university's faculty of institutional policies that directly affect enrollments. Final exam performances of seven sections of introductory calculus were compared with student ratings of the instructors, half made during the last week of classes, half during the subsequent term. Ratings made at the two different times were not reliably different and both sets correlated positively with final exam performance. (Editor/JT)

A study of responses to affirmative action at a large university revealed that using estimates of the minorities available at prestige schools led to smaller departmental hiring goals, and that once such goals were met the subsequent pursuit of minorities was abandoned.
