Power Bases of Faculty Supervisors and Educational Outcomes for Graduate Students.
Aguinis, Herman; And Others
Journal of Higher Education, v67 n3 p267-97 May-Jun 1996
A taxonomy of power (coercive, expert, legitimate, referent, reward) was used to investigate graduate students' (n=346) perceptions of their supervising professors' power and the relationship between professors' power and various students' perceptions, intentions, and behaviors. Results show that faculty power bases are related to several variables that are critical to student satisfaction and success. (Author/MSE)
