Increasing African Americans' Participation in Higher Education: African American High School Students; Perspectives.

A study explored African American high school students' perceptions of barriers to participation in higher education, and explored their perceptions of effective programs to address this problem. Data were gathered in 16 structured group interviews in both private and public schools in five major cities. Identified barriers are categorized as either economic/financial or psychological/social.
