Developing a Research Culture in a University Faculty.

Uses a case study of the School of Management Studies at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, to identify important managerial decisions in transforming a faculty from one that is dominated by teaching undergraduates to one with a strong research profile. Suggests that decentralized management structure and strong leadership at the dean level were important elements in developing the research culture. (SLD)
