The Native American Dream: Entrepreneurs Pursue Their Passion and Self Sufficiency
Deweese, Sarah; Macleod, Malcolm
Tribal College Journal of American Indian Higher Education, v18 n3 p20-21 Spr 2007
The article profiles Native Americans in the United States who own their own businesses. Kim Johnson, a member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes, owns KC's Oil and Lube, a business on the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana. Johnson spoke to a business teacher at the "tribal college", received a scholarship, and took several years of classes before she opened her successful business. Also profiled is Margaret Carry Moccasin, who runs her own business in the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota.
