An Examination of Neighborhood Effects on Patterns of High School Attrition among Puerto Rican Youth in the New York Metropolitan Area.
Flores, Ronald J. O.
Journal of Hispanic Higher Education, v1 n1 p69-87 Jan 2002
Examined effects of spatial concentration of Puerto Ricans on the likelihood of high school attrition among Puerto Rican adolescents. Using census data, found that neighborhoods with very high concentrations of Puerto Ricans did significantly increase the risk of high school attrition among adolescent Puerto Ricans regardless of family background and other relevant characteristics. Also found important differences by gender. (EV)
