Strategies for Facilitating Success of First Nations Students.
Hampton, Mary; Roy, Joan
Canadian Journal of Higher Education, v32 n3 p1-28 2002
Focus groups with First Nations students and faculty revealed five themes that help identify strategies for creating a more positive learning environment for First Nations students: enhancing the professor-student relationship, including relevant First Nations content in curriculum, using flexible teaching methods, adopting a more culturally-appropriate teaching style, and gaining an understanding of the unique life of a postsecondary First Nations student.
