Practical Suggestions to Internationalize the General Education Curriculum
Galvan, Javier A.
Journal of Hispanic Higher Education, v5 n1 p85-90 2006
This article is based on the work that the author carried out at Santa Ana College (SAC) during a period of 2 years using two federal grants. SAC is a Hispanic-serving institution with an average yearly enrollment of 25,000 students. An average of 45% of the student population is Latino, with the majority being Mexican American. The author's aim in this article is to offer a few practical suggestions and strategic steps that might be useful to other institutions interested in the process of internationalizing the general education curriculum. At SAC, the general aim for this project was to prepare students to enter the job market with skills to deal with global issues in an ethical and responsible manner.
