Developmental Trends in Haptic and Visual Free Classifications: Influence of Stimulus Structure and Exploration of Decisional Processes.
Berger, Carole; Hatwell, Yvette
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v63 n3 p447-65 Dec 1996
Two experiments studied the impact of the nature of information available at different processing levels on differences in haptic (tactile) and in visual, free classification development. Found that exploration characteristics (involving simultaneous versus independent processing of stimulus dimensions) and presentation of the stimulus dimensions modified the type of responses elicited in different ways for children and adults.
