The Benefits of Peer Collaboration on Strategy Use, Metacognitive Causal Attribution, and Recall.
Alexander, Joyce M.; Manion, Victoria
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v67 n2 p268-89 Nov 1997
Examined the benefits of a peer collaborative activity on cognitive strategy use and effectiveness and on metacognitive understanding of strategy use. Found that interaction with children working at a higher level of metacognitive knowledge increased strategy use and induced higher levels of metacognitive thinking. Use of sorting strategy and recall improved as a function of treatment group membership. (Author)
