Developmental Changes in the Inhibition of Previously Relevant Information.
Lorsbach, Thomas C.; Reimer, Jason F.
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v64 n3 p317-42 Mar 1997
In a study of developmental differences in ability to suppress irrelevant information in working memory, children and adults provided endings for sentences that constrained a terminal noun. Responses to critical sentences were disconfirmed with unexpected endings. On another sentence-completion task with disconfirmed nouns, children showed priming effects; adults showed priming effects only on terminal nouns. (Author/KDFB)
