Addresses why some teachers are more committed than others to environmental education. Offers a theoretical perspective that links teachers' commitments to environmental education to significant life experiences and to beliefs and attitudes about teaching environmental concepts. Theoretical development led to a Model of Environmental Education Commitment. This model is explained and implications for future research are offered. Contains 28 references. (PVD)
