Singaporean Adolescents' Perceptions of Online Social Communication: An Exploratory Factor Analysis
Zheng, Robert Z.; Cheok, Angeline; Khoo, Eng
Journal of Educational Computing Research, v45 n2 p203-221 2011
The current study investigated adolescents' perceptions in online social communication. Three factors were perceived by adolescents as critical to online social communication. These included self-identity, self-confidence, and self-social factors. Results showed significant differences between the factors derived from the current study and those in the literature. Regression analyses showed demographic and online experience variables significantly predicted adolescents' perceptions in online social communication. Implications of these findings for online educators were offered along with suggestions for future research. (Contains 4 tables and 1 figure.)
