Student Expectations As They Relate to Achievement in Eighth Grade Mathematics.
Smead, Valerie S.; Chase, Clinton I.
Journal of Educational Research, v75 n2 p115-20 Nov-Dec 1981
A study focused on the effect of students' expectations for achievement in mathematics on actual achievement. The relationship of a variety of daily experiences to achievement was examined. Results indicate that student expectations relate to subsequent achievement and that no significant relationship between achievement and expectations based on sex role stereotypes exists. (JN)
