Ethnic Differences in Academic Retracking: A Four-Year Longitudinal Study.
Nyberg, Kenneth L.; McMillin, J. Daniel; O'Neill-Rood, Nora; Florence, Jane M.
Journal of Educational Research, v91 n1 p33-41 Sep-Oct 1997
Investigated the impact of efforts to prepare average high school students for college admission, examining ethnic differences in academic retracking. A longitudinal evaluation of a school reform effort at four California high schools indicates that specific efforts to retrack general/vocational students into college-preparatory tracks offer promise for increasing persistence and academic achievement. Results were comparable across ethnic categories. (SM)
