Factors Affecting the Assessment of Student Achievement.
Wilson, Robert J.; Martinussen, Rhonda L.
Alberta Journal of Educational Research, v45 n3 p267-77 Fall 1999
The extent to which teacher expectations, disconfirming information, and parental involvement affect teacher judgments was examined among 147 Canadian preservice teachers who assessed an imaginary eighth grader's progress over a 10-week period. The student's final grade was significantly affected by teacher expectations based on socioeconomic status and by the student's pattern of achievement. Contains 20 references. (Author/SV)
