A Student's Learning of Geometry Using the Computer.
Choi-Koh, Sang Sook
Journal of Educational Research, v92 n5 p301-11 May-Jun 1999
Investigated a secondary student's development of geometric thought during instruction using dynamic computer software. Clinical interviewing determined his predominant level of thought and highlighted the developmental process of geometric reasoning. Four learning stages were identified in terms of symbol, signal, and implicatory practices. Using active visualization with the software facilitated movement from symbol to signal and then to implicatory character. (SM)
