Cognitive, Affective, Personality, and Demographic Predictors of Foreign-Language Achievement.
Onwuegbuzie, Anthony J.; Bailey, Phillip; Daley, Christine E.
Journal of Educational Research, v94 n1 p3-15 Sep-Oct 2000
Investigated the ability of cognitive, affective, personality, and demographic variables to predict second language acquisition among college students. Student surveys indicated that all four types of variables correlated with foreign language achievement, with a cognitive variable (academic achievement) and an affective variable (foreign language anxiety) being, respectively, the first and second best predictors of foreign language achievement.
