The Effect of Knowledge and Strategy Training on Monitoring Accuracy.
Nietfeld, John L.; Schraw, Gregory
Journal of Educational Research, v95 n3 p131-42 Jan-Feb 2002
Investigated the effect of prior knowledge and strategy training on monitoring accuracy among college students, comparing debilitative, no-impact, and facilitative hypotheses. Overall, knowledge acquired through brief strategy training improved performance, confidence, and monitoring accuracy independent of general ability and general mathematics self-efficacy. Strategy training had no impact on self-efficacy or bias. (Contains references.) (SM)
