Butkowsky, Irwin S.; Willows, Dale M.
Journal of Educational Psychology, v72 n3 p408-22 Jun 1980

Consistent with predictions, poor readers displayed characteristics indicative of learned helplessness and low self-concepts of ability, including low expectations and less persistence. (Instructional implications are discussed). (Author/GDC)
