Checking It Out: Cognitive Style, Context, and Problem Type in Children's Monitoring of Text Comprehension.
Pratt, Michael W.; Wickens, Garth
Journal of Educational Psychology, v75 n5 p716-26 Oct 1983
Three experiments investigated the effects of age, context, and reflection-impulsivity on elementary school children's monitoring of comprehensibility problems in extended messages. Results suggest that perceptual support and cognitive style are two information-processing factors that have an impact on young children's monitoring of their comprehension of extended messages and texts.
