Increasing Native English Vocabulary Recognition through Spanish Immersion: Cognate Transfer from Foreign to First Language.
Cunningham, Thomas H.; Graham, C. Ray
Journal of Educational Psychology, v92 n1 p37-49 Mar 2000

Findings support the idea that Spanish immersion has English-language benefits and that positive transfer occurs from Spanish as a foreign language to native English receptive vocabulary.
