Media Manipulation of Adolescents' Personal Level Judgments Regarding Consequences of Smokeless Tobacco Use.
Sussman, Steve; And Others
Journal of Drug Education, v19 n1 p43-57 1989
Showed videotapes designed to affect personal level judgments of concern and risk in context of smokeless tobacco use to 388 tenth graders, manipulating either message convincingness or perceived probability of consequences portrayed in message. Results suggest that media manipulation of probability of consequences would be more effective than manipulation of convincingness in affecting adolescent judgments regarding smokeless tobacco use.
