Drug use and abuse are viewed as symptomatic of more basic and underlying problems. Drug usage indicates the degree of alienation felt by young people. With drugs, the user finds a way of escaping. There must be an emphasis on self reliance and the courage to be imperfect and not live by the curse of perfection. (Author)
