A study investigated the extent to which the Khatena-Torrance Creative Perception Inventory self-inventory reflects actual life accomplishments and found that the instrument has validity and may also be valid as an indicator of creative potential. (MSE)

In these data and on the kinds of analogies produced by a group of highly original men and women, the simple image/direct analogy stands out as the significant thinking operation used to make the familiar strange. These subjects apparently have not found the need to use personal, symbolic, or fantasy analogy. (Author)

The paper describes methods of identifying giftedness, instruments for assessing creativity, and the need for a single measure of many different kinds of talent. Development of the Khatena-Morse Multitalent Perception Inventory, which identifies talent in the areas of art, music, leadership, and creativity, is discussed. (JDD)
