Khoo, Guan-Seng; Koh, Thiam-Seng – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1998
Describes a study conducted in undergraduate science classes in Singapore using computer modeling and simulation. Reports that the use of computer models and simulations proved to be valuable in explaining many aspects of science. Students reported that three-dimensional images helped them in their understanding. Contains 22 references.…

Adamson, Gary E.; Nakhleh, Mary B.; Zimmerman, James R. – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1997
Describes interfacing a hand-held oxygen probe with a microcomputer and suggests experiments for undergraduate chemistry courses that could facilitate student understanding of aquatic environmental processes which involve dissolved oxygen. Data can be analyzed through the program or exported into other software. Presents results of an experiment…

Friedler, Yael; McFarlane, Angela E. – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1997
Presents a study that introduces data logging using portable computers as part of an investigative approach to science. Working with control and experimental classes of 14- and 16-year-olds, results suggest that data logging can have an impact on graphing skills at age 14 which is not necessarily repeatable at age 16. Bar-On, Ehud; Avital, Shmuel – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1984
Presents background information and the listing for a LOGO computer program which investigates an ancient mathematical riddle (related to the square root of seventeen). The simulation, written for Apple II microcomputers, can be easily adapted to other microcomputers. (JN)

Neale, Martha; Kellogg, Ted – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1984
Relates the experiences of a naive computer-using teacher attempting to integrate the microcomputer into a course unit on human anatomy. Based on these experiences, advice is offered to others who are incorporating computers into their courses for the first time. (JN)

Becker, Henry Jay – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1984
Presents and discusses results (based on data from 1,082 microcomputer-using schools) which suggest that where schools locate their microcomputers has an impact on how they are used. Locations examined include classrooms, laboratories, libraries, special rooms, and mixed locations. (JN)

Smith, Richard L. – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1984
Presented is an annotated list of 19 references which focus on issues and concerns related to the implementation of computers in education. The information provided is intended both for classroom teachers and for researchers. (JN)

Ronau, Robert N.; Battista, Michael T. – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1988
Reports on diagnostic testing of eighth grade students' performance using two different methods. Concludes that the computer version was significantly more difficult than the other. Suggests that students may perform mathematics differently due to the characteristics of the mediums used. (RT)

Sepe, Stephen – Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, 1988
Reports on a process which allows active study of mutating the characteristics of a population of organisms. States that the program, written in C, should run on a MS/DOS system with 640K; CGA is required for graphics output. Describes implementation procedures and two examples using the program. (RT)
