This paper attempts to assess the impact of a residential academic unit on its participants. Subjects were 651 students enrolled in the College of Forestry at Colorado State University. Results indicate that those students involved in the residential unit were generally more satisfied. (Author/HMV)

This paper attempts to determine the impact a building's physical design and structure has on student/resident perceptions of residence hall staff effectiveness. This study investigated differences between students living in expanded-occupancy quarters (three per room) and in normal-occupancy conditions (two per room) in regard to their satisfaction with residence hall life and grade point average. The ecosystem model was used to assess student perceptions of certain aspects of residential life at a large university. Over 70 percent of questionnaires were returned. From the data, aspects of the environment were changed according to student recommendations. A great need for more information communication was found. (RPG)

Data show that the first-time freshmen, who were overassigned in residence halls, did no worse than other students concerning grade point average. The peer pressure may have been a motivating force. There was no male/female difference. Data also show no difference in environment perception. (LPG)
