Describes a workshop led by resident assistants offering communication skills to roommates in university residence halls. Results of an evaluation showed most participants as well as RAs found the workshops a positive experience, although significant differences in roommate relationships between participants and controls were not observed. Measured the associations of students' personal adjustment, interpersonal communication, and peer relationships with their subsequent achievement and continuation in college. Results suggest that efforts to improve relations between students in the residence halls may increase their achievement and retention in college. (ABB)
