Responds to the challenge of the Snowmass Conference by calling for those engaged in "doing chemistry" to cast aside their prejudices and begin to speak in a fresh way to their colleagues and to society at large. Several specific suggestions are made on how to accomplish this. (Author/TS)

Alternatives to professional courses in general chemistry for all students are classified as historical, philosophical and social-environmental. Disadvantages of the first two classes are followed by an outline and description of a course attempting to be relevant to social problems. (TS)

A seminar is described as a forum for discussion of scientific problems and as an exercise in communication. Guidelines are given for selecting and organizing the subject material, the manner and language of an oral presentation, and the use of visual aids and the voice. (TS)
