A Computer Model for Soda Bottle Oscillations: "The Bottelator".
Soltzberg, Leonard J.; And Others
Journal of Chemical Education, v74 n6 p711-14 Jun 1997
Presents a model to explain the behavior of oscillatory phenomena found in the soda bottle oscillator. Describes recording the oscillations, and the design of the model based on the qualitative explanation of the oscillations. Illustrates a variety of physiochemical concepts including far-from-equilibrium oscillations, feedback, solubility and supersaturation, Henry's law, and homogenous and heterogeneous bubble nucleation.
