Discovery Videos: A Safe, Tested, Time-Efficient Way to Incorporate Discovery-Laboratory Experiments into the Classroom.
Laroche, Lyubov Hoffman; Wulfsberg, Gary; Young, Barbara
Journal of Chemical Education, v80 n8 p962-66 Aug 2003
Recommends using educational technology to present images of chemical reactions to students instead of doing time-consuming live demonstrations. Uses a VCR to show hazardous chemical reactions, give instructions to organize students into groups, think about data, draw conclusions, and design an experiment. Reports that the quality of learning from videos compares with that of live demonstration-discussion presentations and improves student performance. (Author/NB)
