The ACS (American Chemical Society) plays a major role in the facilitation of the teaching of established knowledge, the extension of this knowledge and public service, which become even more important because they are embedded in society highly dependent in its daily activities on the fruits of science and technology. The president of the ACS and other officers has a general responsibility to advance these goals.
