The Complexation of the Na(super +) by 18-Crown-6 Studied via Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
Peters, Steven J.; Stevenson, Cheryl D.
Journal of Chemical Education, v81 n5 p715 May 2004
A student friendly experiment that teaches several important concepts of modern nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), like multinuclear capabilities, the NMR time scale, and time-averaged signals, is described along with some important concepts of thermo chemical equilibria. The mentioned experiment involves safe and inexpensive compounds, such as sodium chloride, water, crown ether, and cryptand.
