Scientists at Texas Tech University measured perchlorate levels in breast milk and store-bought milk from across the US. Findings revealed that high levels of perchlorate might be correlated with low levels of iodide in breast milk, which can inhibit thyroid function in nursing women, an essential component for proper neural development of the fetus.
