A DVD Spectroscope: A Simple, High-Resolution Classroom Spectroscope
Wakabayashi, Fumitaka; Hamada, Kiyohito
Journal of Chemical Education, v83 n1 p56-58 Jan 2006
Digital versatile disks (DVDs) have successfully made up an inexpensive but high-resolution spectroscope suitable for classroom experiments that can easily be made with common material and gives clear and fine spectra of various light sources and colored material. The observed spectra can be photographed with a digital camera, and such images can be displayed on a monitor in real time, which help students to understand what is observed in the DVD spectroscope.
