Electronic Structure Principles and Aromaticity
Chattaraj, P. K.; Sarkar, U.; Roy, D. R.
Journal of Chemical Education, v84 n2 p354-357 Feb 2007
The relationship between aromaticity and stability in molecules on the basis of quantities such as hardness and electrophilicity is explored. The findings reveal that aromatic molecules are less energetic, harder, less polarizable, and less electrophilic as compared to antiaromatic molecules, as expected from the electronic structure principles.
