Engs, Ruth C.; And Others – Journal of Alcohol and Drug Education, 1996
Surveyed 12,000 university students from every state to determine drinking patterns. Significant differences in drinking patterns for all demographic groups were apparent. There were no differences in consumption and no differences in drinking-related problems when looking at age, type of school, and school size. Other findings are discussed. (RJM)

A national survey of 6115 college students indicated that 81.9 percent were drinking at least once a year and 20.2 perent were heavy drinkers. Results are presented for demographic and drinking characteristics, and comparisons with a similar 1974 study are given. (Author/BL)

Drinking and smoking habits of a group of college students did not change after a 15-week period of exercises. Results indicate a conscious commitment to changing life-styles may be an important factor and should be considered before physical activites are added to drug and alcohol abuse programs.
