Nested Epistemologies: Science Teachers' Beliefs of Teaching, Learning and Science.
Tsai, Chin-Chung
International Journal of Science Education, v24 n8 p771-83 Aug 2002
Explores the relationships among teachers' beliefs about teaching science, learning science, and the nature of science. Investigates (n=37) Taiwanese science teachers' views on teaching, learning, and science and categorizes them into three groups--traditional, process, or constructivist. Identifies closely aligned beliefs as "nested epistemologies" and suggests that they tend to be found in teachers with greater teaching experiences. (Contains 39 references.) (Author/YDS)
