A longitudinal study of the effectiveness of the Know Your Body program in Washington, D.C., involved measuring 1,041 Black students in grades four-six for heart disease risk factors. The intervention resulted in significant changes in blood pressure, cholesterol, fitness, and serum thiocyanate. Intervention students who had the best teachers showed significant favorable net changes in cholesterol after one year. (SK)
