A salt reduction program was instituted which involved placing pamphlets and posters at doctors' offices, clinics, public meeting places, and supermarkets. The program was promoted on radio and in newspapers. The results of a follow-up survey are presented, and the program is judged a success. (MT)

Based on social skills and operant behavioral perspectives, an Environment and Skills Model of smoking acquisition and prevention is proposed. This model involves an integrated examination of the antecedents, behaviors, and consequences of smoking. The importance of the "consequence end" of this three-term contingency is discussed.
