Coordinated School Health Programs: Tracing the History of Terminology.
Wilson, Kelly L.; Schuler, Katherine E.
Health Education Monograph Series: Student Monograph, v19 n2 p36-39 2002
Historically, traditional school health programs involved a three-component model (health education, health services, and healthful school living). Though the eight-component model, later received widespread attention, the health education profession was resistant. Over time, a preference for the coordinated school health model arose. Confusion persists about when to use the terms "coordinated" and "comprehensive." An analysis of the impact of terminology on school health program implementation is included. (SM)
